Seasons at Redwoods Farm - Winter

‼️ IMPORTANT - DATE CHANGE NOTICE ‼️

Winter event now Sunday 8 December 2024 1-6.30pm

Due to the extreme weather forecast for Saturday, we have decided to postpone our Winter event to Sunday.

Some outdoor activities may be curtailed if the winds are still strong on Sunday.

We apologise for any inconvenience, however the safety of our animals & our visitors is paramount.  In the meantime, we hope you stay safe in Storm Darragh.

We look forward to welcoming you on Sunday for festive fun - come & enjoy our warming Redwoods Chicken stew & luxury Hot Chocolate Bar.  Our stallholders will be here with Christmas gifts & more.

We’ll see you here, Ruby will be waiting to say hello! 🐶

NB please keep an eye on our socials or this blog for future updates.

Original blog . . .
We’re excited to welcome you back for the last of the Redwoods events for 2024 where our theme will be Winter – The Story of Community, 1 - 6.30pm on Sunday 8 December 2024.   We’ll have lots of festive fun games; bring your wellies for our field light walk and we’ll need your help again with the naughty elves amongst our farm animals!

1 - 6.30pm Sunday 8 December 2024

We believe in the power of community at Redwoods.  That’s why we decided to make the focus of Winter’s event about bringing our community together for festive family fun this season.

We also want to show you how much your support means to us, not just during Christmas but throughout the whole year.  Of course, there'll be festive family fun, as we all gather together at this special time of year.

Hot food & drinks

We'll be offering our super seasonal chicken stew (using delicious Redwoods pasture raised soya free chicken!) with festive accompaniments of roast potatoes & stuffing, along with our festive snowman & Christmas tree cupcakes.  We have a festive veggie stew alternative too.

Also back by popular demand . . . our luxury triple choc Hot Chocolate Bar, with festive flavourings, toppings & sprinkles to keep you warm whilst bringing on the festive spirit!

Family games & fun activities!

Please note activities may be subject to change if high winds continue into Sunday.

We've got some brilliant fun activities and games lined up for you this year - bring the whole family to enjoy a festive afternoon out!

Christmas Dinner Elf Hunt
Our naughty elves are back and they're hiding all the elements of the Christmas dinner! 😱 Can you round them up to make sure your dinner is complete?

Field Light Walk
Bring your wellies for our Light Walk through down the field.  You may find some clucky birds along the way and don't forget to keep an eye out for those pesky elves!! (Note, this is approximately a 100m walk, so suitable for little legs, as well as older ones!)

Reindeer Welly Wanging
How far can you wang a Reindeer welly?  Come and demonstrate maybe previously hidden talents of strength and skill . . . or just have a giggle wanging away!

Feed our pigs
If you've always wanted to get involved, now's your chance to have a go and give our pigs a cup of feed.  Watch them as they root around finding it on the ground - great enrichment for them to stop them getting bored!

Christmas Colouring
If you fancy slowing down a little or keeping small hands occupied, why not sit and chill with our festive colouring sheets - can you stay inside the lines, or do you dare to be different?!

Local Artisan Stalls

No Redwoods open farm event would be the same without the local artisan stalls who accompany us.  All of the local businesses who join us have views which align with ours and they ensure they're always thinking of how their decisions affect the environment with what they do.  At this event you'll find Christmas gifts, decorations and much more, perfect for this time of year.

At our autumn event, you'll find:

Tim at From Tim’s Workshop
Tim has the amazing vision of acquiring salvage items that he can repurpose, restore and upcycle to create unique pieces of agri art, homewares and furniture.

With the use of woods such as oak, elm, sycamore and even pallet wood, combined with metal objects others would consider scraps, interesting pieces come to life under Tim’s expert hands.  We are fortunate to have him represented at our event, as he attends various markets, locally at Tiverton and further afield such as North Devon, Dorset and more. Find him on Instagram.

Jenna from The Wood Nest
Jenna is a designer maker who produces a unique range of gifts and more using locally sourced sawmill offcuts or reclaimed wood, to create a canvas for new work, inspired by her adventures in nature.

With a brilliant eye for detail, you can feel Jenna's love for the natural world around her in her art pieces.  Find Jenna on Instagram or website to see more.

Paula from Felting Feels
Paula has had a love of textiles for many years, knitting or sewing many wonderful things, but she really found her passion when she started expanding her knowledge of the heritage craft of felting over four years ago.

Since then Paula has invested a lot of time mastering the art and amazes me with the huge range of felted creations she handcrafts.  She's more than happy to explain the felting process and show you her products when you visit her stall.  If you'd like to find out more, check out her Instagram or website to find out more.

Katie from Katie Chapple Photography
As a very talented photographer, we've been fortunate that Katie has done most of the photography for our website!

Having grown up on a farm and around animals all her life, Katie has a real affinity for capturing them in their natural environment, and the patience for catching that perfect image.  You'll be able to purchase a range of cards and prints at our event.  She specialises in pet and family photography, so you can chat with Katie if you want to book your own photoshoot.  Find Katie's Instagram or website to see more.

Redwoods Fibre
We'll also have a stall of our lovely Redwoods Fibre yarn and roving, produced from our very own pasture raised sheep.  The natural colour is beautiful in itself, but we also have some beautiful yarn & roving naturally dyed by my sister, Suzie (@sheepnstitches on Instagram), along with some felted and knitted products by Paula of Felting Feels, both produced exclusively for us in our Redwoods Fibre range.

Redwoods Farm produce

You'll also be able to purchase our tasty, pasture raised meat & eggs for all your Christmas entertaining needs and more!

You can order in advance from our variety of meatboxes or for best value, why not try our seasonal meatbox (click on the product link below for a saving of 20% on individual prices!).  Alternatively, browse our stall on the day - we'll be happy to help you choose your perfect cuts, joints or supper faves.

Winter, especially during Christmas time, is all about community.  So make sure you join us as we bring people together for family fun, meeting animals, buying Christmas gifts, Christmas dinner and much more!
