We're excited to welcome you back to Redwoods Farm for our next Seasons at Redwoods Farm Summer event on Saturday 6 July. We've got lots of fun planned, read more about our event below and make sure you come and join us!
Summer: The story of Wool
Date: Saturday 6 July 2024
Time: 1pm - 6.30pm
Location: Redwoods Farm, EX16 7PD
We're working on a new project this year - our Redwoods fibre range! This event is where we will be launching the range, giving you an insight into the whole process. We'll have a sheep shearing demo by my sister Suzie, a wool spinning demo and a wool display showcasing the processed wool and its huge range of uses. There will be a variety of interactive activities for children & adults (don't worry, we won't ask you to shear a sheep!).
We're back at our farm for this event with beautiful views over the farm & across the valley from our field at the top of the farm (look for the signs as you turn into our farm lane, to turn almost immediately left into the field gateway).
Sheep shearing will be preceded by a small talk about the Redwoods shepherding year and will be happening at 2pm and 4.30pm.
(for more information on our shearing in 2023, read Suzie's guest blog here).
Alongside our sheepy activities, you'll be able to purchase our flavoursome Redwoods Farm regenerative meat & eggs, visit our artisan maker stalls for gifts and more. Why not make a plan to stop for lunch or dinner with our great Redwoods flavours served at our food and drink stall.
Supporting local businesses
Our events just wouldn't be the same without the local artisan stalls who accompany us. All of the local businesses who join us have views which align with ours and they ensure they're always thinking of how their decisions affect the environment with what they do.
At our summer event, you'll find:
Katie from Katie Chapple Photography
As a very talented photographer, we've been fortunate that Katie has done most of the photography for our website!
Having grown up on a farm and around animals all her life, Katie has a real affinity for capturing them in their natural environment, with the patience for catching that perfect image. You'll be able to purchase a range of cards & prints at our event. She specialises in pet and family photography, so you can chat with Katie if you want to book your own photoshoot with her. Check out her Instagram or website to find out more.
Jenna from The Wood Nest
Jenna is a designer maker who produces a unique range of gifts and more using locally sourced sawmill offcuts or reclaimed wood, to create a canvas for new work, inspired by her adventures in nature.
With a brilliant eye for detail, you can feel Jenna's love for the natural world around her in her art pieces. Find Jenna on Instagram or visit her website to find out more.
Paula from Felting Feels
Paula has had a love of textiles for many years, knitting or sewing many wonderful things, but she really found her passion when she started expanding her knowledge of the heritage craft of felting over four years ago.
Since then Paula has invested a lot of time mastering the art and amazes me with the huge range of felted creations she handcrafts. She's more than happy to explain the felting process and show you her products when you visit her stall. If you'd like to find out more, check out her Instagram or website to find out more.
Francesca from Francesca Mack Smith Silver Jewellery
Francesca is an artist and maker producing carefully considered silver and enamel jewellery that reflects the nature around her since her move to Devon.
Working with recycled silver, adding colour with enamels, Francesca handmakes delicate pieces from pendants to rings and much more, in a distinctive style interpreting colours from the natural world. Attending markets & craft fayres, along with taking on commissions, to see more find Francesca on Instagram.
Tim at From Tim’s Workshop
Tim has the amazing vision to acquire salvage items that he can repurpose, restore and upcycle to create unique pieces of agri art, homewares and furniture.
With the use of woods such as oak, elm, sycamore and even pallet wood combined with metal objects others would consider scraps, interesting pieces come to life under Tim’s expert hands. We are fortunate to have him represented at our event, as he attends various markets, locally at Tiverton and further afield such as North Devon, Dorset and more. Find him on Instagram.
Food and drink
We're bringing out the BBQ again for summer! We'll have pulled lamb rolls for £7.50 and hot dogs for £5.50 with coleslaw, salad & condiments. There will also be cold drinks available as well as sheep themed cupcakes.
Seasonal meatbox - summer
Don't forget our Seasonal meatbox will be available for this event, super value with 20% off when compared to purchasing the contents individually.
Contents will include something from all our meat range, but with a focus on lamb this season.
Pre-orders are now open, however as this is a fresh product, availability will be limited. For collection from our summer pop up event only, order by July 1.
Don't worry if our Seasonal meatbox is not to your taste, we have other meatboxes available and of course you can purchase our pasture fed, soy free meat joints and cuts separately, along with our pasture raised eggs from the range available on the day.
