Coming to a tv screen near you soon via BBC Countryfile!

Yesterday we welcomed tv cameras to Redwoods Farm again, with a visit from BBC Countryfile, filming in collaboration with Pipers Farm.  It was a fascinating day of in depth conversation and sharing our Redwoods farming principles, as well as getting more insight into behind the scenes of tv production.

A warm welcome to BBC Countryfile & Pipers Farm

It was lovely to see Abby again and welcome Peter for the first time from Pipers Farm, along with having in-depth discussions and sharing our Redwoods farming methods with them and the BBC Countryfile team including presenter, Tom Heap.

After earlier filming their own Red Ruby Devon cattle at Pipers Farm, director Abby & co-founder Peter made their way with the BBC Countryfile team over to Redwoods Farm, where Abby was again interviewed by Tom in front of Amy's pigs, talking about building community from farmer to consumer through their collaborative network of small scale food producers.

Nature friendly farming

We were pleased to be part of the conversation on the benefits small scale farming can bring to the environment, producing food in harmony with nature.

Mark was interviewed by BBC Countryfile presenter Tom Heap about his soy free pastured chicken as part of our balanced farming system using regenerative agriculture methods.  Redwoods Farm soy free pastured chicken will be available from Pipers Farm in the next couple of weeks as our new season starts.

Proud of our lovely Ruby making sure to get in the spotlight too . . . we hope she makes the edit!  You may even spot our laying hens when it airs too.

Update: BBC Countryfile episode 16 June 2024

The episode aired at 6pm on Sunday 16 June, titled Hidden Treasures of Wanlockhead.  It was part of a report in which Tom Heap asks whether scaling up and becoming a so-called 'megafarm' is the way forward for some farmers to survive.   The eagle-eyed amongst you will notice Abbey Allen being interviewed in front of Amy's pigs with her laying hens and other images of the farm forming part of the footage too.  Mark was interviewed by Tom in front of his chickens, with Ruby getting in on the act in the wider shot!

If you missed it, you can watch it on BBC iPlayer by clicking on the image below (sign in may be required).  The piece starts at around 12 mins 30 secs in if you want to skip straight to it:
